- Welcome to East Sea Fisheries Supervision Office(ESFS)
Since its being established in 1966, the ESFS has played an important
role in fishing order through active guidance and intensive regulation
activities on Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) Fishing.
In the last decade, global fishing production has been decreased due
to lots of problems including overfishing and progressing marine
pollution. There are same problems in the field of Korean fishing
industry, where fishing production has been decreased by around 5% in
the last several years. As a result, the Korea fishing industry is faced
with lots of difficulties in these days.
In spite of those problems, voluntary participations those who engages
in fishing industry and Korean government’s efforts have contributed to
reducing IUU Fishing. With the consequence, Recently, it has been
become visible that the fishing production in the Korean coastal and
offshore has been increasing steadily.
From now on, we are going to put priority on the guidance to the
fishing vessels which work on the Korean coastal and offshore, and set
up the fishing order through regulations on IUU fishing activities
faithfully.
I believe all these activities can be successfully achieved with our
excellent, motivated efforts.
